I think Dave is refering to making sure you have enough plunge in your axles. As the arms move up and down in their different arcs the axle will need to slide back and forth in the CV so that nothing binds up. If the axle bottoms out in the CV it might break it.

Yep, That is exactly what I mean.
It is a common problem in the off road buggys that race out here,
But they have 36 inches of suspension travel at the wheel.
