Lastly, it seems some of you are dubious as to the purported weakness of the 25 spline top loader. It's my understanding that they were used briefly in the early 60's, quickly replaced by the 28 spline and never intended for high HP applications. Likewise, the 31 spline replaced the 28 spline for big block applications.

I realize that my trans has not failed in all these years, however, I am concerned about a potential weak link spinning at 6000 rpm right under my elbow.

I'm open to input, but concerned.............
