Possible suggestions (not to take away from the thread on Kalitta):
1. Better "laundry" (the chutes are attached to a brace that is attached to the body). With an explosion it makes no sense to have the chutes attached there...Should be on its own frame, attached to the car frame, and extending a foot or two beyond the back of the car (possibly?).
2. Better brakes. Why can't a dragster have ABS? When you panic stop a fueler/funny car, you are pulling on a hand brake and you can cause the car to skip violently. Not suggesting to add a foot brake w/ABS, but there are technologies that would be worth the added weight. Increase the minimum weight of the class to compensate for it.
DOWNSIDE: How do you shield all that brake tubing from a violent explosion?
3. Shorter race distances for some events/tracks (not all). See my previous post.
4. Better designed shut-down areas.
The NHRA is really going to take a LOT of flack on this one from the entire community (racers, fans, sponsors). Not good.
