Mine is fixed but I feel your pain. Intermitent road feedback is ok, but a constant vibration is as you say " Unbearable ". I started with the least expensive solution ...tires .....then it was wheels and if that didn't work, I was going to go to the front end mechnical parts eg ball joints, tie rods , bushings etc. There is a lot of advice in here, so the problem may be fairly common. If you are satisfied that all four tires are balanced and round etc....have someone check the driving pins....if all else failed I was going to go to rag joints and vibration resistors joints and I still might have a steering damper installed...good luck...
