Here's a couple of pics of the MSD failure I experienced. Note how the step-down transformer is mounted on the PCB. The xformer should be enclosed and mounted to the board. As you can see, the xformer is not enclosed and not secured to the board AT ALL. The mounting holes are there but not used nor is there a housing around the xformer. The only thing holding it in place are the leads on the primary and secondary side of the xformer. Cutting costs at the expense of the consumer. The last picture is how a xformer should be mounted to a PCB.
