I'm also not crazy about all the plastic cladding in the engine compartment of this and most new cars.
That said, overall I love the car and wish GM luck w/ it. They could use a break at the moment.

The "cheesy looking guage (sic) cluster" is directly out of the 69 styling book (69 and 10 gauge clusters pictured below). Overall I like the look of the car, and its weight is almost identical to the latest Mustang.
