I have pin-drive wheels from Vintage Inc. Del Mar ,Ca. So far I have not had to polish them mainly due to living in a hot dry climate in AZ. All I do, is use a spray bottle with dish soap and water to clean the tires and wheels. Then spray on some matted tire protector (on the tires), wipe off the excess and let dry.
Next re-spray the wheels with the spray soap solution and clean off any over spray and yuck, then wipe clean.
My wheels still look like new and very bright..maybe in a couple of years I'll have to polish them?
Anyway, that's my two cents. Bill
