Holy crap. There are two farmers markets within 5 miles of me (one on Monday and the other on Friday), plus two farm stands within 8 miles. Fresh native corn picked that day (or one day ago) ... at less than half what you pay. Plus the corn in the super-markets is good, but not always as fresh as the other places.
Corn loses 50% of its taste within 24 hours of being picked. Refrigerating the corn slows down the rate of "taste loss". So I buy my corn fresh about twice a week, put it in the fridge and eat it within the next few days, usually that night. Steam it, or cook in aluminum foil on the grill. Like Fred said - make a meal out of it.
I'm getting hungry

OMG Fred and Steve - its all the way up to 84°F now, and it has not started to rain yet. Guess I'll have to go for a nice ride in all of this oppressive heat.
