I'll always remember a debate regarding the death penalty during class in college. The professor took both sides, challenging anybody opinion.
But his best comment was to a student that said that the death penalty was not a deterrent to crime.
The professor's reply was "The death penalty is definitely a deterrent to any future crimes for the bastard they fry!" Half of the class went nuts with applause!
