Nope, it is being shipped to Europe. Of course, the shipyard is owned by Mitsubishi.
USA used to be big in shipbuilding but our labor costs are just too expensive to be competitive in the worldwide marketplace for big ships. On the other hand, we have tons of small boat makers (< 100 ft). Times change.
What is really interesting is that the shipyard was assessed for about $50M on the tax rolls when the last guy bilked the US gov't out of about $90M. The guy was supposed to open up the shipyard and build ships.
After that fiasco, they decided to auction off the property and buildings a couple of years ago. Unbelievably, a local car dealer won the sealed bid auction for only $9M. What a steal. He just sold the crane for $9M.
