If I put the reverse arm in the "up" position, as indicated in my photo, it works.

The proper Ford pattern for reverse is all the way to the LEFT and UP, correct?

Edit: Never mind, some go LEFT and UP....some go LEFT and DOWN. This matches the pattern on my shift knob so I assume that's what the linkage was intended to do.
