Bruce - has the handbrake (sorry, UK term) suddenly stopped working? If so, you may find that the friction material pad on one of the handbrake calipers has separated from it's metal backing and popped out of its proper place. If that is the case, a new set of handbrake pads will correct the problem. it could be nothing to do with the cable/adjuster assembly.

This happened to me after a particularly "brisk" track day!! The heat generated in the inboard discs was enough to "unstick" the handbrake pads.

If you do find this to be the problem, take care to seat the handbrake pad securing bolts properly, and don't do them up too tight - use thread locker on them instead.
