trularin: Not sure what your friend is going through, but I know its hard to watch someone close to you suffer or pass away. When my son was diagnosed with Leukemia back in May, a friend here at work gave me a copy of "When Bad Things Happen to Good People" by Harold Kushner. I didn't pick it up for months, as I was expecting the common platitudes and a vehement defense of God, of which I'd had enough of from the people around me. When I did finally pick it up and read it, I found a realistic point of view regarding illness and death in the context of a belief in God. I found it really quite helpful, for I found that the people around me, though well-meaning, were quick to the common platitudes that really did nothing to salve the agony and stress of what I was going through.
My thoughts to you and your friend. If she must indeed pass, may it be peaceful.
