It all boils down to this: It's your car. Build it the way you want, and build it the way you intend to drive it. The primary person who must be happy with the aesthetics and functionality of the end product is you. Just be realistic with your expectations and use your $$$resources accordingly.
You don't need a $20,000 NASCAR engine and junkyard parts on the rest of the car for a mostly street driven car. You'll hate it.
You will find that a Cobra is the most gawked at car on the road though. It's a little unnerving at times.
