Hi Ed, If I am not mistaken, The max you can safely go with an aftermarket 427 block (Pond, Genesis, Shelby) is 542. The max on a factory FE is 482 & it has to be a true 428 stamped service block. Not just a service block with the extra webbing but a stamped 428 service block with the thicker cylinder walls. The max on a Ford 385 series block is 815 & they are run by the Top competitors in NHRA & IHRA producing about 9000 hp.
Come to think of it, I wonder how they Dyno them??
Just my 2 cents.
Regards,
