Default Big Noise in Europe!!!!!

The 2009 Carinthia Cobra Happening

The Austrian Speedclub will organize a special meeting for Cobra`s and Cobra replicas in May 2009. Speedclub is a non-profit organization*, all we want is to unite as many of these beautiful cars in the heart of the Austrian alps.

We shall meet in a castle-hotel at Lake Millstatt in Carinthia (Southern Austria) Together we will drive through this incredible landscape, make new friends and enjoy our enthusiasm.

On Friday 8th of May 2009 at 12:00 hours:
Rendezvous for Cobra´s from the North at the parking lot of Salzburg Airport in Austria.

From Salzburg there are three options to drive to Millstatt :

-1) Cheapest, drive over Radstätter Tauern and Katschberg, you will need Autobahn vignette.
-2) Drive through the Tunnels, Katschberg and Tauern, cost extra toll is troublefree
-3) The wild thing Grossglockner, absolutely incredible, is a challenge to drive.

On Friday 8th of May 2009 at 17:00 hours:
We meet at Hotel Seevilla in Millstatt, rooms of all categories available in Millstatt.


Be aware to make your own reservation for Hotel, B&B or camping:

The cinema in Millstatt will try to play the famous C. Lelouche- movie "A Man and a Woman". (If we will get a copy). Movie does contain pictures of 24h Le Mans and a GT40.

On Saturday 9th of May :
At 09:00 hours, after breakast we shall drive the famous Nockalmstrasse, 52 bends and many curves, through high alpine territory to Gmund. Where Ferdinand Porsche built his first Porsche sport scar (Gmund-Coupe).



At 14:00 hours we will visit the Porsche museum. It is small, but very nice.

At 19:30 hours there will be a Candlelightdinner for the guests of the Seevilla.

* Speedclub will not charge any fees for this event, as it is only a meeting of independent fans, without any responsibility for any accidents, misshapenness etc. - Drive carefully and respect speed limits!


1. Rules

• This is a non profit event, therefore there is no obligation for us to grant services of any kind! (evertheless we do our best)

• This is no race or rally; all legal regulations have to be respected.

• The program may be changed in every way at our sole discretion.

• This event may be cancelled at any time for any reason.

• We reserve our right to ask guests to leave the event in case of non-adequate behaviour, excessive consumption of alcohol or dangerous driving.


2. Information

Reserve your room in a hotel or B&B of your choice. Hotel Seevilla will be the centre of our activities; the candlelight-dinner will be there too. Friends staying not in Seevilla can make an arrangement with Seevilla for the candlelight-dinner as long as capacities are available. Elegant clothes please!

Your registration for the happening is not a room reservation, you can stay wherever you want, and you pay there yourselves.

Movie show in the cinema is sponsored by the Austrian Speedclub, entrance is free. Dance in Villa Verdin no entrance fee, just to pay for the drinks.

Austrian speed limits: Motorway 130 Km/h, cities 50 Km/h other roads 100 Km/h.

In Austria you must pay toll for the motorway (highway). Buy a so called Vignette latest at the border, the cheapest is valid for 10 days and cost 2008 Euro 7,70. Do not try without, they get you! Unfortunately there are some more roads where you have to pay extra toll, like f.i. the tunnels through Tauern /Katschberg or Grossglockner.
Nockalmstrasse has toll too, amounting (2008) Euro 14,--.

Car theft is seldom in Austria nevertheless take care.
.
Police can fine extensively, so do not break the laws.

In Austria it is even not allowed just to own radar detection devices.

Please make no accidents, do not eat yellow snow, and stay home if you aint nice!

I defintely know that this invitation from Europe is quite something, but maybe some of you have always wanted to drive in Europe and to see the Cobra scene here. We expect something like 100 Cobras/Daytonas,/GT 40 and Aces from all over Europe!
