A vette guy here, sneakin into your site to research 15" tires. Not many guys on the Vette sites are running big tires on Vettes like mine, because they have been returned to chalkmark restorations - no fun.

Interesting threads you got - lotsa TA bashing. Sorry, just had to pipe in...........Sounds more like a drag racing forum - everybody's scared of wheel spin! There are more than two throttle positions ya know

Maybe it's just the different car thing, or just that your cars don't get driven as much:

I put over 90,000 hard miles (over 7 years) on my Vette with TA's, and never had an issue with them - but then I like sliding, and going sideways - just gotta get used to the feeling and modulate power - had to buy at least one pair per year - was same all around so news went on front and fronts go to rear, etc. I would come home from work and hit the backroads near home for hours, and never found another car I couldn't stick with, or stay ahead of - including my buddy's Cobra. To me stickier tires just means you're going faster when you're playing at the limit,(which is where all the fun is) and will also be going faster when you blow it and go beyond the limit.........ie -- faster crash speeds....

Sure I weigh more than the Cobra's at 2,900lbs, but I was only running 235/60/15's. Didn't matter whether I was at 350 or 500 hp - just had to learn to adjust as my power level rose over the years . I'm sure it could be that the Cobra is just too light for the tire?? On my car they "mush" in the turns perfectly for me - that means they slip more and more as your speed increases in turns and are incredibly forgiving - never snapping (unless you get get scared and lift!) - they had a very "wide" edge to their limit. They stayed about the same until the tread was well beyond the wear indicators.

Just an "outsiders" .02

Now I'm flaring the fenders and will be running 8.5's and 10's, so I'm in the same tire dilema you guys face what to go with?? SOMEBODY needs to make some radials in those GY BillBoard sizes dammit!! Idrive too much for race tires!!

Sorry that's as big a pic as site will let me upload..........
