Learn to enter and exit the car like Scooter says and you won't get burned anymore.

Step into car with both feet standing up. Sit down into seat. Getting out is the reverse. Your legs don'e get close to the pipes anymore. With a top on it's a little more difficult. Crawl into car head first putting your knees on the seat. Rotate to a sitting position.

Always instruct first time passenger the proper methods as well.

Looking under the hood with shorts on will still get you. Heat shields won't help with that anyways.
