The expansion tank is plumbed into the cooling system below both seals of the cap. Between the seals it is plumbed to a drain pipe or a catch tank for a dry race track. I got a tank off an old Thunderbird for $8 and turned it around on the plumbing to make it a left hand exit a la Cobra. Blasted and painted it. Mumma thought it was a new one.
