My friend who vintage races an original USRRC cobra uses a HANS. I would suggest getting the kit that extends the range of motion though. We had an incedent where he was not able to see a car that was on his right rear corner. He thought he was there but when he turned to look he was unable to turn his head enough to verify. Because of this he held and an outside line and got into the marbles and spun. Luckily no harm done except a brake scoop but the lesson was certainly learned. The extended kit was ordered the next day.

The problem with the cobras is that the visibility in the mirrors is so limited. Usually with only a drivers spot mirror and a centrally mounted mirror. Leaves the RR area vulnerable to blindspots.
