I have had three two tone cars. A black with white top 1961 Galaxie, a 1958 Ford Fairlane 500 with two tone blue, light top, and a 1965 red with white top Galaxie 500XL. None had air conditioners. I like driving with the window down and it makes no sense to have air and the window down. And after setting in the 115+ heat in our parking lots all day I couldn't tell the white tops were any cooler than the solid dark color cars I have had.
Now as for the tools in the trunk that is a very serious matter and one that CARB should spend at least a few million doing a study on. I have always kept my tires aired up to prevent unnecessary wear and I do have a non factory tool kit in the trunk. And don't forget the weight that a jack and spare tire adds.
