Jeez, that's a lot of work. I would just suck it out via the fill hole. Look, here's how I do a real fast oil change before I put the ERA away for the winter. That's how I would do your transmission oil as well if it doesn't have a drain plug. I sure wouldn't yank it and drill it (wouldn't pull anything else out of it either).
