Default You might want to check inside the tank

Snakebit, If the tank is empty or almost, you might want to check the pickup in the tank and the rubber hoses there too. It is possible that you could have a small leak in the system. A fuel pump should not go dead in only 300 miles. If there is a restriction in the pickup tube, yes would be the answer. You could also hook up a vacuum gauge to the inlet on a tee and see what vacuum pressure the pump is pulling. Rick L.
