The LSX has the same firing order as the 302 HO, so that's not a reason for the difference in sound. We experimented with 3 different firing orders on my outlaw dirt Late Model engines: the standard SBC order, the 4-7 swap and the 4-7/3-2 swap (a.k.a. the LSX/Ford firing order). Although cam companies made claims of increased power and smoother delivery, there was no difference in power on the dyno, nor any detectable difference in sound.
