As a lifelong Northern California resident, I'm a biased fan of the SF and Monterey Bay area. Gotta agree with you regarding the water temps though. I've lived near the Monterey Bay for 21 years and have probably gone in the ocean twice.
SoCal, Hawaii, Mexico...I can swim for hours.
