As I understand it the H1 was exactly the same as the military version (sold under the AMG label) when GM picked it up they re-tooled to use a truck frame. (H2) AMG discontinued sales to consumers as part of the deal.

Used to be a AM gereral dealer close to where I live (also sold Mitsubishi).
