For under 6000... No, but from there up to 9000+ yes they really start to turn the numbers, but if your going to try a stroker deal at those RPM you better buy a Big drip tray to stop the
oil messing up the floor.
Part of the reason the LS heads 'look' so tall is the port enters the head at a steep angle so what you 'see' is not a true cross section area of the port, plus provision for the injector spray pattern is also made in the port casting at that point.
