Ron, that doesn't sound right.
The pan should drop right down and then all he has to do is pop the rear cap, replace the seal. Ask him to cant it 3/8 inch so the mend is not at the same place where the cap meets the block.
Should be a hour job on a lift.
I have a new CAM in, lifters, heads, push rods, rocker arms, front cover, buffed and cut guide plates, new seals,
oil pan and balancer all in place. I am also pooped.
Tomorrow maybe I will get the solids all adjusted and more parts put back on.
