A very good friend of mine, who was all things mechanical performed virtually all the work on my Big Block mid-year Vette, as well as many of my other cars, over the years. He/I built 3 or 4 engines for my Vette, the last being a 540ci. Anyway, when he installed them, he would secretly give me only partial throttle just to make sure I was safe with all the new HP each time I moved up the ladder of HP. I only found out many, many years later that he was not giving me full throttle right from the get-go and I never bothered to double check it. Once I had some miles under my belt, after taking it back for something else, he would adjust the throttle.

I'm not saying that happened here, but just relaying a personal experience with partial throttle. I hate when that happens.
