My frame is verrryyyy early #0000017, bought 1980. Peter Bayer said that it is probably the 17th one made. I was wondering if it was for some sort of support for the steering column but the anchor could be a possiblity. I have always wondered what it is for. They never had a manual back then so If I was unsure of how to do something I either called or stopped in at one of their locations you see how something went together. As I was putting the car together it never stopped me so I never asked. I am in the process of putting aluminum panels in the engine compartment and instead of cutting out for it in the panel I will probably just cut it off. I am curious about what this could have been for.
