My preference is that any American citizen uphold their obligation to tell their elected Government of its' failings. If the mere presence of a legitimately owned and carried weapon - of ANY legal nature - should cause that Government concern, then their agenda is suspect. I have absolutely no concern with anyone carrying a firearm in open and obvious display, whether at a baseball game, a town hall meeting, a presidential rally, or even a Cub Scout meet. It is action with it that would concern me; brandishing without obvious reason would serve as cause for intervention. Mere display is neither offensive nor cause for Chicken-Little reaction.
Although I'm no politician, I trust that answers your question.

You have a right to your opinion .... I want to hear the politicians opinions and accept the consequences (good or bad) of his opinion..that would be a defining moment in this issue... the White House Press let Obama wiggle off the hook with a " respect the right " answer....the question (IMHO) should have been to the effect, " Does the President think that is a appropiate and reasonable thing to do..." Of course they don't want to answer that question and that is precisely why they should be asked.....
