I worked my way through the same headache.After talking with K&N about how much air a healthy 460 needed,their answer dictated how much height I would have to deal with.In my case,I took the stock hood off stashed it away,bought another hood,found the right Harwood scoop, fit it to the new opening after cutting the too small scoop out of new hood,then paint.Now the K&N fits neatly up in the air stream,and this motor does not shut off.
