Not Ranked
Racing in the Rain
It is an excellent read.
Very bittersweet as one review says.
So much sadness that is common in life.
The story is not so much about racing as it is in living.
Learning what life is, not what we want it to be.
I am glad to say the ending is good.
Upbeat, yet believable.
Expect tears to flow while you read the book.
If you don't have a dog, you may be tempted to get one.
They truly are our best friends in so many ways.
The racing parts are written by a racer so it is a nice change from the usual butchery of our activities.
But the book is about so much more so don't expect a "racing" story.
I felt it portrayed individuals as they really are, not all good, not all bad.
Each one doing what they think is best in the situations.
I wish I could be half the man Denny Swift is. The way he deals with absolute tragedy, while not at all easy for him, is the best way possible.
My wife, not interested in cars or racing, also read the book and agrees that it is excellent, and while it has many very sad parts, it is not a depressing story at all, rather, that it shows what we can be even though tragedy knocks most of us down. She gives it two thumbs up and a box of Kleenex.
Highly recommended
