Actually the meet has always been run by the SCAT group. Shelby Cobra Association of Texas. The problem over the last 5 years was really 2 fold. The cost of the track got too expensive to rent and they wanted people to have instructors with them. We couldn't cover the costs of the track for 2 days for the die hards that wanted to run. We were getting quotes of around $5000 per day plus EMT costs.

Second... those running the track were really getting into the late model's and those people really didn't want to do the banquet..so we were loosing money here as well.

If you go to Tulsa you can see what it really takes to put on track events...Lots of sponsors. Unfortunately we just couldn't make the numbers work anymore..it was unfortunate.

I will say the Texas 289 was a great way to go out.
