I chose the 482 because I felt warm and fuzzy about having an extra 0.125" around those cylinders and the aluminum block. Aluminum expands and dissipates heat enough already and I was just a little nervous with boring the block out bigger.

nothing wrong with that decision. I don't think you can feel any difference between the two anyway, since none of us can get it to the ground anyway. . . .The Kirkhams prefer the 482 because it revs faster. (shorter stroke) I like the 527 because it's cool sounding, an even 100 from 427. . .silly I know. . ..
