The 289 FIA version or a Slabside 289 made by people Like Kirkham, ERA & Unique are a great option.
Primarily the reason I started looking at the 289 cars was budget. I wanted the best car I could build within my budget. ERA was a blessing in disguise for me at the time because the wait also allowed me to save for a couple extras that went from "dream list" to "build list".
Like I said, that is why I "started" looking at the 289. Once I really got into the history of the cars I started liking the 289 car as much or more that the 427 big brother. The 289 is also different in a crowd of Cobras, it stands out. & a big part the savings can be in the Small Block. Finding a 427 Side Oiler can get really expensive in a hurry. A non side oiler block isn't exactly cheap to build either.
Hope you find the car for you! Good Luck!
