The tie rods are attached to the steering rack with a ball, cup and spring arrangement that tightens with a nut over the socket that the ball, cup and spring fit in. If that nut is too loose, it sets up a harmonic and a vibration at a specific speed. Usually between 60 and 70. (All of that from a guy with an MGB). I tightened the nut over the ball and spring and whatdayaknow? The shimmy went away.
