Default Fuel filter product alert

I recently, purchased Professional Products #110102 Mini- canister chrome and red spin on fuel filter system (similiar to the Holley filter). It leaked from the bottom of the spin on. This is a press in fitting to take the bolt that went down the center to secure the filter. Tried fixing it to no avail. Because, I had welded to the frame a bracket for this filter, I wanted to keep it. Purchased another one, it too leaked. Opened it up, an to my surpirise the top piece was not only painted red on the outside but on the inside as well. The paint was coming off. It appears, it was being attacked by the gasoline-10% blend. Needless to say paint flakes in the carb now a possibility! I just replaced it with a Russell in line, it is actually the third filter in my system, the only one from Professional Products.

All I am saying, is that with these changes in fuel composition, it appears some manufacturers are not doing quality control on their products to see what affect it has on the paint, rubber gaskets, etc.

Part of this web site's function is not only to let others know when you find a quality product but to inform others when you have a problem with a product (with no *****ing).
I informed Professsional Products, that they have two problems with the product line. They said, they would look into it, and I hope they do. In the meantime, I have switched to another brand and will probably never purchase a similiar fuel filter from them. I use many of their other products and have in the past never had a problem with any of them. The purpose of this thread is, I hope, to prevent someone else having the problems that I encountered.
