Same problem with the SS braided rubber hoses available from Earls, Summit, Jegs, etc.. The hose does not meet the low-permeation requirement of SAE 30R9. If you ask them about it, they will avoid the subject and tell you to not exceed a one foot installed length.

I had a lengthy conversation with Goodyear's Tech Support some time back about this. Their recommendation: They make rubber hose (without the exposed SS braid) meeting SAE 30R9 (and 30R10 and 30R11) specifications for pump gas service. If you want to use SS braided hose in pump gas service, they recommend TFE-lined SS braided hose.
