I had an interesting conversation with Jim Baily at Pro Shock today. I was referred to him by the tech department as the guy who specializes in the street rod applications of their product. I explained to him what I have been going through here as I stated in the original post. He said the SM600 series is a shock only, no threads on body, not a coil over. So that part number does not apply in my case. Maybe thats the shock for CR's using the non-coilover rear suspension.

Anyway the stroke on my shocks are 6" and they need to be 5". I have 14" center to center on the mounting bolts. 6" shocks are for 15" c-c and 5" are for 13.5" c-c. My shocks are too long. I bought these shocks from Pete at CRII in Feb. '07 and they shipped in May. So I guess it can be said that "they (CRII) shipped the wrong parts" for whatever reason. I still have to buy them again. Yes, you could say I'm more than a little disappointed.

My other option would be to extend the top shock mount upwards of 1". I will look into that as well. Any thoughts on that?

This won't happen for a few weeks but I will revisit this thread when it does.
