Default Non-ethanol gas

I have a lake house in Alabama and was surprised to find non-ethanol fuel. I filled up the Denali and got 16.4 mpg on the way home. On the way down before with that lousy stuff the feds have fostered on us it was 13.4. That's a big difference. Also since they started with the ethanol every one of my small equip engines(chainesaw blowers weed eaters etc) has to go to the shop for repair for fuel related problems. Some I have had for over 20 yrs without a hiccup. Even my Kawasaki mule the gas line melted. Does anybody know where we can get unadulterated fuel in this area???? I really don't want to be dragging back allot of cans of fuel from AL but I will.

Alex,

I know this is not in your area, but do you have a petroleum outlet near you that sells racing gas? I just had a new barrel delivered yesterday and was talking to the driver and he said they now sell 97 octane unleaded gas at their place that doesn't have the alcohol/ethanol in it and they can legally pump it right into any car. I am going to get some to run with the regular crap they call gas here.

I always mix a dixie cup (or two) full of my 110 Sunoco leaded in a couple gallons of the water they sell at the local Chevron. Then use this same mix when blending a gallon of 90/10 for the two-stroke engines. I never have a problem any longer with the small motors choking and mowing the lawn now smells like running my Cobra. It's not enough to carbon the motors but it does take the edge off the ethanol. Ingenuity is the father of invention, or in my case, a little chemistry experiment never hurt anyone.

P.S. I also add Sta-Bil to all stored fuels. This stuff works quite well.

Dean,

I forgot about the Sta-Bil. I also use it in all of my lawn equipment and in the cars and it does a great job. And once in a while I put a gallon of the 110 racing gas into my 65 Comet to mix with this water we get at the stations. What a difference just that one gallon makes in the way the car runs.
