Hell, I just got my sidepipes back from making them louder and removing some back pressure. Iffin it ain't howling, it ain't prowlin!!!!! Love the loudness of it. Pick up some fumes at traffic lights but it is not overbearing. To each and everyone their own, You may want to consider running the pipes under the car and out the back roadster style. Kind of like cutting your dogs balls off I guess!!

Somebody said to me once that a stupid question is the one that you DON'T ask. Here's a new guy who's asking a question, and what are we trying to do.....convince him not to ever ask again?
Take it easy on the ridicule, huh?
Cheers,
Glen

OMG!! Get a foo!foo! Miata, MG, Fiat, etc. car!!! Put flames on the side That will fix your sport car cravings You clearly don't belong in a AC! Even a street version! Or at least spend the cash to install undercar exhaust, and do a little re-tuning.

Jimmy,

I hope you have a sense of humor. These guys have been pretty rough, but that goes with the car. And if you think these guys are bad, just try posting something on the Viper forum!

I got a little tired of smelling like gas fumes when I drive the Cobra to the office and tired of burning up too much $5/Gal gas. So, I bought a Wide Band A/F gauge and sensor like this: PLX DM-6 Multi Gauge Display + Wideband O2 Air Fuel Ratio SM-AFR2 Combo Kit | eBay.

The neat thing about the Holley carb is that you can tune the primary for economy and the secondary for power. You can have your cake and eat it whenever you want. My goal was to get close to 14.7 at idle and cruise and down to 12.5 for power. There is a lot of excellent carb tuning information on the Internet. I bought a few squirters, cams and jets and changed one thing at a time until I got very close to my goal. The final step was to replace the old greasy K&N air filter with a new one. I now smell much better and waste a lot less fuel.

RS

First, there's always the choice of a Corvette. I hear the Z06's are pretty fast.

Second, you could install one of these under the hood for power instead of the Ford 392:

And I shouldn't neglect your 3rd option, which I highly recommend. And that is, keep in the garage and don't drive it. You'll certainly avoid any fumes and the noise reduction is phenomenal.

I love the smell and really love the sound. I even love how the car makes my garage smell.

Come to think of it, is there a way to make my car smellier

Rub some 90wt gear lube under the carpets and maybe a little ATF behind the seats and then tell us how you like it.

Prior to driving your car, eat beans. Possibly a quieter form of power for the OP's Cobra too, depending on genetics.

Hey Jimmy, Kinda like everyone else has said, practally all Cobras are smelly at idle and will burn your eyes while running in your garage (with the door open of course). It's normal. Even if you could fit Catalytic converters on you car, they wouldn't quiet it down whatsoever. Cats are an emision devive, not a muffler.

Re-engineer your exhaust system so it goes under the car and out the back, end of your problem

Talking Jimmy stop - stop you're a young man

I bought the car because it was scary - Noisy - And irritated my neighbours when I start it 24h00 at Night. Why? They party loud through the night at least twice a week with loud booming noises coming from the neighbours man cave. I'm also an old rocker but when you listen to Thunderstruck for the 6th time the same evening at that time its just about enough. I then go out and start the Cobra, which is actually parked right next to the Man cave with only a garden wall between us, and give it 2 good revs. They get the message - the music quits down and I can go back to sleep - Simple isn't it? So there is more to the car than just driving it - Which bring me to the question: How will Jimmy shut his neighbours up?

As a daily driver, sidepipes don't cut it. And the guys jerking you around on this thread agree, too, just look at their stable of cars they and their family drive to work. The Cobra in the garage is the exception.

Undercar exhaust was the answer then, and still is. Ignore the chest thumping and take a long look at the originals at a show near you. It cleans up the boy toy wannabe racer look and turns it into a mature man's car. You don't have to suffer, neither do your passengers, and it goes just as fast on city streets.
Really ??? remember... Guys drove them an modified them !!!! First thing I did was the side exhaust. Then the roll bar.... Wide racing tires. List went on an on. Best thing the OP can do is get it tuned..
