Will this work?
I just received my track pipes last week and would like to paint them white (ie. VHT flat white look) but want them to last and avoid the rusting problem I see so commonly.
My idea is to ceramic coat them inside and out (no muffler or glasspacks in them) and then apply the VHT on top of the ceramic coating. Has anyone done this? What would the downside be not withstanding price?
It seems to me yours pipes would last for a long time and still be able to touch up easily without the collector rusting issue. I appreciate your thoughts.

Yes
When I had my headers ceramic coated the guy did such a shi__y job I didn't pay him for them. His machine failed during the process. So to clean them up I used the 1200 degree header aluminium paint and they look great. No pealing, blistering or darkening. In fact when I had my engine apart I freshened them up with another can of the 1200 degree header paint.

So did you apply the paint over the sh*ty ceramic coating?
If so, it sounds like it would work.

Yes, I just sanded some of the bad places a little w/ some 800 grit wet or dry paper and sprayed right over everything. So far so good.

I had my headers and side pipes ceramic coated in WHITE! Check with you coating guy if he can do it. I believe it is something they spray on the ceramachrome.

My current street pipes were done by HPC in silver but they told me the HIGH temp coating only comes in black & silver. Ditto for my local Atlanta resource, however, there was a white varient but was for more appearance purposes only. As strange as it sounds I also like the dull look that the VHT stuff provides as well. Thank you!

ToyCollector
Can you delete my tread under the "FE Forum" or how do I do this if you can't. I am getting replies from two different sources. Thanks.

Bmercer,
Do your headers and pipes actually stay white with the ceramic coating? I love the look but worry they will yellow and be a maintenance nightmare over time. Thanks!

So far so good. I have put about 500 miles on them so far and they are still white. I'll try to get som pics to post if the sun ever shines up here. They actually turned yellow at first but after 2 or 3 heat/cool cycles they settled back to white.
