Hey guys;

Some had asked before about bringing the better half---looks mine is in for the trip.....

See you all tomorrow.

Charlie & Beth

GeorgiaSnake 08-15-2003 06:46 PM

Since my better half cannot make it and being a true southern gentleman I offer the spare seat to any lady - as long as she is as pretty as chill and has a body like TC.

InateSnake

BigEasy 08-15-2003 06:54 PM

Randy;

Drink some more tequila, cause obviously you are not quite where you need to be yet, "pretty as Chill, and body like TC".

Maybe we should meet at Waffle House, and one of those "lovely's" needs a ride to the crib???

U R 2 Much.......

Charlie

968 didn't make it back from the shop yet, so I'm out. Good news is I'll hopefully be crawling under the cobra tomorrow and working some detailed clutch instructions from Randy (thanks!)

Tony Radford 08-15-2003 07:06 PM

Hector, where does Lawrenceville Suwanee cross 20? I'm sure I've been through the intersection a million times, but I'm drawing a blank on the Lawrenceville Suwanee part. I'll be taking HW 324 to 20 and hanging a right near the Toyota dealership.

hcollado 08-15-2003 08:06 PM

Tony, actually, Lawrenceville / Suwanee Rd turns into Buford Dam Rd right before it get's to 20. It's about 4 miles from the Toyota store. You wont miss me.

My cell just in case: 770-335-9266

ToyCollector 08-15-2003 08:21 PM

Randy, thanks for the offer. IF I go, I will take the 930 and a few liters of oil (one of my oil lines likes to sweat---just like me). Due to my trip to San Fran next week, I think I may be better off finishing up everything I can on the car. I used that aluminum for the cut-off switch today. I also have a way of getting those convex mirrors out of the plastic housing in about 3 minutes or less--used my inate wisdom for once. Made some good headway on the car late today, although I find out Monday if we have a "too high" compression ratio issue in the motor. Hoping the machinist is wrong from what I heard today %/ .

CWA essentially stands for Covered Weathered Area/County Watch Area--essentially middle of state on up north. Unstable weather in the AM already.

"AREA FORECAST DISCUSSION
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE PEACHTREE CITY GA
1030 PM EDT FRI AUG 15 2003

UPDATING TO KEEP AT LEAST ISOLATED SHOWERS/THUNDERSTORMS IN
OVERNIGHT. SCATTERED SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS CONTINUE ACROSS
SOUTHEAST PORTION OF CWA AND IN MOUNTAINS ALTHOUGH GENERAL
DIMINISHING TREND. HOWEVER SHORT WAVE DROPPING SOUTHWARD INTO
AREA OVERNIGHT AND SATURDAY AS UPPER HIGH RECENTERS ITSELF INTO
THE CENTRAL PLAINS. LIFTED INDICES ALSO SLIGHTLY NEGATIVE THEREFORE
WOULDN'T BE SURPRISED TO SEE A FEW SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS REDEVELOP
DURING EARLY MORNING HOURS AND THEN INCREASE SATURDAY WITH PLENTY
OF MOISTURE...INSTABILITY AND UVV. "

ToyCollector 08-15-2003 08:29 PM

Randy, wouldn't mind your advice on the fuel isolator when you get a chance to swing by.

GeorgiaSnake 08-16-2003 04:23 AM

Hey guys the weather is starting to look a little iffy now. I just checked the NOAA site:

Today. Partly cloudy. A slight chance of showers in the morning then a chance of showers and thunderstorms in the afternoon. Highs in the mid 80s. Light and variable winds. Chance of rain 40 percent.

Not the best forecast for open top roadsters. Any suggestions at this late date.

Randy

Tony Radford 08-16-2003 04:38 AM

Randy, why don't we do the Cumming thing and regroup from there. I don't think there's much risk of getting stormed this morning. According to WSB TV's morning forecast, Georgia skies are clear of rain-producing clouds this morning.

Cracker 08-16-2003 04:42 AM

I'll see you all in Cumming at 9:00.

ToyCollector 08-16-2003 05:34 AM

You guys could invade the Derelict Donuts! CJ and I are headed down there so we are close to home base.

ToyCollector 08-16-2003 05:35 AM

CAPES stands for Convective Activity Potential Energy.

ISOLATED SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS POSSIBLE THIS AFTERNOON AND EVENING.

.SYNOPSIS...
AS HIGH PRESSURE OVER THE AREA WEAKENS...A TROUGH OF LOW PRESSURE
ALONG THE EASTERN SEABOARD WILL BECOME ENHANCED OVER NORTH AND
CENTRAL GEORGIA.

.PRIMARY HAZARD...
THE PRIMARY HAZARD FROM ANY SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS WILL BE DAMAGING
DOWNBURST WINDS. OTHERWISE...LIGHTNING AND LOCALIZED HEAVY RAIN CAN
BE EXPECTED. THE BEST TIME FOR SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS WILL BE THIS
AFTERNOON AND EVENING.

.DISCUSSION...
A MOIST AND UNSTABLE AIRMASS WILL CONTINUE OVER THE AREA. CAPES OF
1500 TO 2500 ARE EXPECTED. WEAK SHORT WAVE ENERGY WILL ALSO AFFECT
THE AREA. THIS WILL CAUSE SCATTERED TO NUMEROUS THUNDERSTORMS TO
DEVELOP LATER TODAY...AND INTO THE NIGHT TIME HOURS. HOWEVER...DUE
TO LITTLE CHANGE OF THE WINDS WITH HEIGHT...ONLY ISOLATED STORMS MAY
BECOME SEVERE.

.OTHER HAZARDOUS...
THERE IS THE POSSIBILITY THAT THUNDERSTORMS COULD MOVE SLOWLY.
THIS WILL LEAD TO INCREASED POTENTIAL FOR HEAVY RAINFALL AND
LOCALIZED FLOODING.

GeorgiaSnake 08-16-2003 05:55 AM

Boy is this a tough thing to post. I started this trip with the thought of driving my car, well that is out of the question and making the trip alone in the other car is not that fullfilling. So I am putting chill in charge of the group.

Bill can't get to my car until next week which is a real bummer as I will be out of town all week (Savannah). That pushes the fix to the following week and again I will be out of town (Coleman FL) which pushes me to the next week. That week I will be in Augusta and Kentucky. I don't want to wait 4 more weeks so, I think I will fix the car myself, at the expense of having Bill yell at me for getting into his baby.

Hope you guys have a ball and the skies stay sunny. Take and post some pictures.

Dave Crace 08-16-2003 07:41 AM

Well,
Curses foiled again. I started up 575 this morning, car was running good. Then it started acting up again. Fouling the plugs all over. I am definitely running too rich. Guess I'll try jetting down to see if that works. Sorry to miss the ride today

GeorgiaSnake 08-16-2003 07:49 AM

Me Too Dave. I'm in the process of pulling the harmonic balance off so I can replace the front seal.

We need to schedule some chassis dyno time to get our fuel / air and jetting correct. There are two in the Marietta area.

Back to wrenching :JEKYLHYDE

Tony Radford 08-16-2003 11:52 AM

Well, mission accomplished. For you closet queens, we had seven Cobras show up. Hector, Chill, John Owen, SVO Bud, Cracker, Big Easy and myself. Charlie and John left early in the ride to fulfill other commitments. The rest of us completed a nice twisty course and made it back to Cumming a round noon. Needless to say, the weather was excellent. The next one has got to be Dillard. I'm hungry.

GeorgiaSnake 08-16-2003 12:00 PM

Great that the weather was good. How were the twisties I picked out ? Now it's back to the garage to finish pulling the harmonic balancer so I can get the front seal out.

Randy

svobud 08-16-2003 01:56 PM

Tony, you and Hector missed out on some killer Bar-B-Q. We stopped just down the road from where y'all turned off and ate lunch. Big Easy and Co-pilot Beth missed it too .. they turned off just a mile short.

Great meeting/seeing you guys. I hope to make the next outing. Can't wait til true Fall weather is here.

Tony Radford 08-16-2003 02:06 PM

Bud, I had really planned on heading home to avert any possible thunderboomers. Hector motioned that he wanted to grab some lunch, so thinking I was pulling into a shopping center, we accidentally ended up on the 400 SB entrance ramp. We'll have to coordinate the return leg better next time. Maybe we sould invest in a wireless voice system like they use in fighter squadrons.
