August Get Together
Andrea and I had such a good time on the Helen trip we want to do another. We are available every weekend except next, we are taking Eric off to school.
Check your schedule and lets get something going.
TC do you think you will be on the road before it snows ? DC time to get the new motor on the road. Tonys' (both ) time for some seat time. Chill stop waxing and lets' go. Big Easy, CB, JO, Johan, Hector, Guru, Alex, all newbies, oldies etc, etc the weather is getting better each day.
What works ? One day trip, over night .
Randy

Randy, wife and daughter will be out of town this coming weekend. Could be a sign it was meant to be. I did find out from Susan that my stroker block in the machine shop getting reworked. My intake and water pump will be done by Thursday. With any luck, I will need to be getting some driving done before the redhead goes in for surgery.

Randy,
DC is on the road already, I've seen that magnificent beast. I was hoping to snag that 289 Kirkham last night, but set a price and held my line.
I talked to Cobra Restorers today about cutting the exhaust hole opening. I figure why try to save a $100 bucks and booger up the car. He agreed to help me out. He was real friendly today.
I think Cracker was there today as well. I would be up for a trip but only if I have a chance to shake down the car beforehand. Regardless, there will be a party here when it is done.

"No more Sunday's for cruises" says the wife! It was a nice trip to Helen (not great because I was woefully behind in a Bimmer) but I need to plea for a Saturday trip either on the 16th (ideal) or 23rd (less ideal but do able). I need to also know sooner than later to secure a day long babysitter for the young ones!
Although an overnight trip would be great there is no way I can swing that with a 10 month baby girl - but it would be great for you baby boomers out there!

Randy,
I'll be ready to go, but give me a week to sort out my carb. Couldn't stand having you guys leave me in your dust. Any weekend but the 23rd as thats the PCA DE. Overnight would be OK. Think we could make it to the Cherohala Skyway or maybe Highlands NC?

Correct me if I'm wrong, but don't you have to go through Dillard to get to Highlands? I can't go within 50 miles of that restaurant without putting on the feed bag.

Randy,
Any idea about the plans? For instance, if we left early
say 9:00 am and our outing totaled 7 hours, lets say 4 hours driving & 3 hours not - that's still alot for a day in a cobra. It's like driving to Charlotte - almost double what we drove to Helen. Randy or anyone else have any ideas. I know Andrea/Randy had an idea of leave early, eat lunch at lake, drive twisty rds, meet, drive twisty rds - come home for some spend the night for others?
I'm only good for 16th & 23rd - but then again I'm expendable because of my BB.

Week-end Cruise
Yea, Cracker came by the house today and we were talking about what a great ride I missed up to Helen---he of course now has his Cobra back on the road, and I can testify that it is running VERY strong.
His is the only other cobra I've ever been in, and it certainly is an experience to feel first hand what another cobra set-up is like.
Anyway, back to the ride schedule---I'm available most any week-ends, but usually Sunday's are best. I can do the Saturday's, just need to plan in advance.
Let me know---I need to get this car some exercise.

Due to the " Burning Man" festival, I am booked for weekends until Fall, at which time I suggest a nice trip to Lake Burton, and then Highlands, NC, as a weekend overnighter. I can come up with some stuff to do and some accomodations, as the wife has a place at Burton, temporarily inhabited by her parents, with a ski boat, and her brother has a restaurant in Highlands, where we could all eat for free !
I'm ready to suck the "in-law titty" !

Johan, I get an interesting "mental picture" on that one. Depending on the inlaw-variable, that could be quite scairy!

"Burning Man" is an event that is hard to describe. The closest I can come is that it would be like landing on Mars and finding that it is inhabited by Artsy Aliens. Both Hippie busses are headed out there ( Reno Nevada), and I am trying to get 14 days off work to go (4 for the festival and 10 to recuperate). I can't decide who to take, Laurel or Tara, but it could be fun in the right company. TC, I thought I saw you there last year as the Tromboner in Dave Crace's Jazz band ?

Anybody have a good date. I think we should try a trip to Blueridge. I'll use my mapping software to plan a senic route. Post your dates.

Next weekend looks good for me. We should all pray to the rain gods to stay away.
Are we talking an overnighter??
