Where are we with Austell?
It's almost zero hour. I'm cleared to go. I'm only concerned with the potential for thunder boomers this afternoon (50/50), since Austell is pretty fair haul from Dacula. What's the head count and ETA looking like?

Rain chance 60%
Chance I'll be at Austel 40%
Car is drying, seats are out, I'm playing on the internet and watching SPEED.
The word inertia comes to mind...
If rain chance dimishes, I may drop by mid-afternoon.

I'm less than 2 miles from the show site, so I'll be there.
Just to recap directions ..
Quote:
To get there ..
take I-285 to S. Cobb (I think it's exit 15), which is located between I-75 North and I-20W. Turn North on S. Cobb. Couple of lights up is the East-West Connector. Turn left (West) onto the Connector ... it's about 2 miles from there. Look for it on your right once you cross Austell Rd.

If the weather holds out I am going to give it a try.
What time frame are you guys thinking about? Are any of you going to enter the show competition or are you planning on just showing up and checking out the cars? From the flyer that was posted it looks like judging starts at 4 PM and the show runs until 8PM. I don't know about you guys but I don't think I will be hanging around until 8 to find out the show results.

I'm out. It's really overcast on this side of town. I may just take a countryside spin around here and order some more engine parts. How did anyone ever build a hot rod before the days of Internet? I've spent so much time cruising sites and gathering parts like alternator bracketry from Mark, valve covers from some outfit I've never heard of, aluminum sealer from Zoops, carb from Barry Grant, wiring harness dressings from Barnett. This is great!

Well, it made me wash my parts car, but I may stay a little more local as well.

I went and took some pics. Wasn't much there when I got there. Left around 2:15-2:30 or so to run an errand. I somehow think things got wet there real quick after I left.

I was just about to leave, around 2 PM, when it started pouring rain. Decided to pass on the show. Went out for an after dinner drive instead. Sorry to miss you guys. Maybe next time.

OK, you've heard about the back problem
But that was not the limiting factor---I was thinking about heading that way, but the clouds were very ominous, and then it started raining, so that was it for me.....
Sorry guys, but for those who showed, you should be commended, or at least awarded a plaque/medal??
Hope it was a good one for those attending---sorry for the delayed commitment...
Hope to see all at the next one.
btw----Tony---thanks for the call--I'm bringing the E-Type over for a look at that motor

Now for the real report.
If you didn't go, be glad. You have 3 more hours to your life now than I do. If it wasn't for some good father/son time, it would have been a total waste especially since none of you were there when I was. Glad I just spent the $3 to spectate and my son got in for free. This may be the car show that did me in for all car shows! They wanted me to enter, and I said I would for $3 spectator fee as that was why I was there. I told them I don't believe in paying more than $5 to enter a car show if showing a car, as I usually leave with $300 worth of scratch, fingerprint, and icecream stain repair , and even that amount is difficult for me if it isn't for charity. They wouldn't haggle and were in horror mode when I said that, so I parked the parts car in the far far corner of the Regal lot. In hind site, a good decision as I only stayed 30-45 minutes at most.
P.S. In fairness to the show, people did seem to arrive late, but there were only two of the 40 or so cars there that "lit my fire". Plymouth Dusters are now classics? Please!

OK .. my report.
I had a good time. Hung out with some fellow Cobra owners, saw some "ok" cars .. watched an Elvis impersonator (absolutely hilarious). It rained .. or I should say .. sprinkled TWICE. Once as Alex pulled in. The 2nd time stopped just as Alex left. I Dunno.
There were 5 Cobras total .. with a couple of owners coming by to say "Hi" without their cars. I stayed until the end. No Cobras received any awards. Of course, they were supposely "professionally judged" - yet no one came by and judged mine or Perry's cars. I use to be a show whore with my Mustangs .. but ones like this broke me of trying to get anything out of a Car Show other than "hanging out with some like minded friends".
TC - why didn't you introduce yourself? I'm pretty sure I saw you walking around the cars.
To the organizers of this event, WTF were the bathrooms? NO the theater mgt would NOT let you use their facilities. Next time .. spend some freaking money on Port-a-jons for christ-sake.

SVOBUD,
When I was there, there were two Cobras there and I did not see any owners nearby. There was a blue one and a white one with an FE. Was one of them yours? Glad it only sprinkled, because I can guarantee it poured only a few miles away--I was in it.
Did the Plymouth Duster win best of show?

Well, after reading the reviews of the show by TC and SVO Bud, I guess we didn't miss much
Bud---sounds like you really needed a restroom
Anyway, hope to see all at the next planned event.

TC - mine was the Blue w/wht stripes - next to mine was Perry's (427 S/O) White w/blue stripes. Maybe we were down getting lunch when you stopped by .. but most of the day, we were standing either in front or behind our cars ... talking to all kind of folks about the cars and trying ward off fingerprints from the wandering crumb snatchers.
Alex showed up (with his better half) soon after and parked in front of us with his Red Superperformance. Tom parked way at the end around 4pm with his White ERA (beautiful car) .. and Joel came in around 6pm in his "Red Unique" - parking next to me after Perry left.

Wasn't all bad, good talking to folks and
meeting Tom and Alex, hopefully a little cooler and clear next time out.
Might not want to elbow our way in the middle of a bowtie boutique next time!!!!.
