Default Cobras everywhere.

Is it just me, or are Cobras gaining rampant appeal as of late? I've seen two new commercials this week with Cobras. One is that gasoline additive Techron where they use animated talking cars (in this case a talking Cobra). I just saw an Autozone commercial with a blue/wht stripe Cobra pulling out of the parking lot. On my way home from work today I saw a guy tooling down the road in snake. I didn't recognize him or the car.

Kinda cool,,,,,I like it. Now, lets not overdo it.

There was that Jack in the Box commercial where "Jack" drove off in a red and white Viper in the end. People have actually mistaken my red and white Cobra for "Jacks" car.

Sports car are HOT in general, the market is "primed" to accept them. For an advertising stand point, the Cobra is a natural. I recently bought a car cover for my Toyota at Costco. You know, the one with the red and white COBRA on the box cover!

Replica's of Cobra's can be too popular, i think. Cobra's are in many adds for things, very common to see this in the English car mags. Even when i was reading the Porsche forums, (my son has a Boxster), the Porsche guys in Europe were saying the only American car over there that gets "respect" is a Cobra, certainly not Corvette's. So they are a timeless car, and get attention from all sorts of people, as we all know.

When the 2Fast/2Furious movie was reviewed in Autoweek, about how it came to be made, apparantly they asked for any Rice car to show up for an audition. They of course selected also some classic American cars for the show, the first one of course featured the Charger. But the director of the recent sequel would not put any Cobra's in his move.

I think it was because no matter what role a Cobra played in amoungst the Rice and Iron cars, it would have overshadowed all the other cars in the move. And the movie is about Pocket Rockets, and a Cobra would have made them secondary in fan interest.

My opinion. I am sure we CC guys would have paid to see it, though!!

Hal, you're right about the ricers. I probably get the greatest number of "thumbs up" from ricer guys. I get the sense that most of them would trade their car and girlfriend for my Cobra.

Hey I own a '94 Supra Biturbo and a cobra. The supra is a great daily driver but there I'm here today to tell you I'm a torque addict. Hp for show torque makes you go.

Default more, more, more...

They use to be made one at a time. Now we have multiple manufacturers in competition in the USA and overseas taking orders before they are built, cranking them out as fast as possible. There is even financing available to get one Today!

Gee, I wonder who will produce the first See-Through plastic Cobra body just trying to be different. The only way to have a unique Cobra now is if you buy a Unique. HaHaHaHa...

Oh well, I still love the car regardless of the fact there are at least 30 of them now within 15 minutes of my house now.

Default I suppose I missed all this...

We have not watched TV for 10 years + (too much propaganda)

We watch only select videos and once in a while a movie in the theatre... like the recent movie "Sea Bisquit".

Most people cannot remember what make of car they saw in an ad anyway...

I think Hal is right. There was a rumor that they were going to have some cobra's in the sequel. But i think the ricer manufactures got upset. Maybe they had some money in there or at least free cars

Cool

Yeah, I've noticed that too. Not only on TV(which is kinda cool..), but also at car shows. Geeze, any more, Cobras out number Mustangs it seems! I'm not sure how I feel about this. Really, just 5 years ago, seeing a Cobra out in public was a big thing. Now, while folks still love seeing them, it's not such an event any more. They usually know someone who has one!

I dunno, I guess I kinda liked it when they were more mysterious and hard to find.

You should have been in Kershaw SC. last weekend. There were Cobras everywhere. I bet on saterday there were more Cobras in that little town than pickup trucks.

What a weekend we had a blast.

Cool

Our Cobra "club" here in Hawaii, (uh,,,,that would be me and my friend Bryan) have planned a cruise for this weekend!!

The high point will be swapping the lead so both of us get a chance to actually SEE another Cobra in our rear view mirror for a change!

There would be THREE of us, but the other guy drives an SPF and it's broke (ssshhhhh,,,,don't tell the SPF forum I said that, I don't want to get in trouble).

We went to a car show a few Saturdays ago and not a single Cobra. I should've taken mine, it would have been the best Cobra there. Lots of Saleens, a Mustang Cobra R, some Hot Rods with remarkable quiet short straight sidepipes. But there are three for sure here in EC. When I lived in the midwest my home town of 1200 people had two. Mine and one with a stretched wheelbase the guy won in a poker game. He was going to trade it for an Indian motorcycle the last I know. He must like Indian's, he keeps one in his living room.

We still have few enough Cobras that they are not yet overdone in the mind of the public. You do not see them everywhere but they are getting much more common. With all th ereplicas being made, they will become more common and lose some of their exclusiveness. In the meantime, I love mine and like seeing a few others once in awhile.

Dang those thing are a dime-a-dozen. I'm not knocking them - I have owned a vett and a Camaro.

Yup, Bryan, red FFR purchased in AZ. Real nice guy, we been hanging out since he bought the car. He just put in a clutch, new radiator, water pump and t-stat. He's running the heat shields that came off my Excal (chrome). Got the motor all detailed, a little paint, some chrome and nice pulleys, etc. The car is ALWAYS immaculate, polished and shined up all over.

Mine? Well,,,,,I do finally break down and actually wash it every once in awhile. Heck, I'm to busy driving to stop and wax it! LOL

Some of the rice boys ignore the Cobra; others love it. Last night on the way home from dinner, we pulled up at a stop light next to some little blue car with graphics on the side, etc. We were in the left lane, he was in the right. The other driver gave us the thumbs up. After we left the light, my wife told me he was telling someone on his cell phone: "I'm sitting next to a Shelby Cobra! Can you hear it?"
