I can't make it on a Froday like Cracker, all I can do is Friday's. Bob, you cad, you edited out the best part of your post. I for one want to see the 6 banger run.

Randy,
Hi,
I think the Friday Cobra meet would be fun. Have you given any thought of going to Run & Gun. Its really a lot of fun and you get to really "play" with your car. Your "stroker" would be what I'd have built if I didn't want something "odd & different". Anyway if you or any of the others reading this have the 16-19 off this month and want to travel to St Louis area you'll have a blast and get your car in Kit Car magazine. HOPEFULLY the Buick 6 will do what its capable of...Hopefully...
See ya,
Bob

Yo, let's get some concensus here. It looks like someone's going to be excluded on any day we pick. What do you say we narrow it down to Oct 24 or Nov.7th? Entry fee for cars will be $15, $10 for spectators and $25 for car with trailer. You'll need a couple of helmets for those racing. I should have my car back by then, but it will be sporting a post-op chastity belt. Any ideas on how to get the date out to more Cobra guys?

One vote for 11/7.
Justa6 - I'm not fooled at all by the "6" your sporting. My builder, Gary Grimes, has done allot of R&D with that motor and claims that they can get those heads to flow more than a BB Chevy! They make @ 650 hp with no power adders with your motor - and the motor weighs in at 350 lbs. ? I'd love to see your car so please make whatever date we end up with. If not join one of our cruises before this winter - if you can. Best wishes!

Tony
Hi,
Gary did the machine work on my "6". However, there is no way a 274" Buick will put out 650HP without a power adder. Jim Ruggles was "the man" on these motors (along with Gary) and they got them up to 535 or so with 14 to 1 compression. My motor is VERY detuned at around 470 with 11 to 1 compression. The good news is it gets better than 20 MPG on the highway
I also vote for 11/7
Regards,
Bob

Bob, you sandbagger you . There were at least two Grand National 6 cylinder powered Cobras at DVSFIII and they were in "topdog" status for acceleration. We know what that motor could do pulling a big Buick Regal, so I can pretty well fathom what it will do in a 2400-2800lb replica. Never mind how well it puts the power to the ground!!

Toy Collector
ie the 2 Grand National powered Cobra's at DV.
Just remember THEY are Turbocharged with Intercoolers. My motor has a Holley 4 bbl carb and no nitrous, turbo, etc.
I also have a Grand National and its very nice to be able to just turn up the boost when you want more power.
Just wanted to clarify...
Hope to meet all of you on Nov 7 if I can get it AND Thanksgiving off in November.
Regards,
Bob

I spoke to Lewis this afternoon and he says he's in for Commerce. He used to frequent the 1/4 mile events as a driver. When I told him who was planning to attend, he said he probably needed to bring his feeler gauge and timing light.

Sure, if you are showing up the night before the event. Tony, do we have parking access the night before?

TC we are going to Commerce GA. not Commerce Oklahoma why the need to arrive Thursday? It's 63 miles from my house. Just curious am I missing something?
Since your car won't be finished before November of 04 you want to load my car into your little trailer and take it up for me. I'll buy the fuel and let you watch me make a few runs - I might even let you make a few - if you think you can handle a SB.

Come on Randy, as a racer you know prep is key . Want to adjust jets for the atmospheric condition of the day, let the tire warmers have time to do their thing, maybe sneek in a few runs before you all arrive . Not that it matters, it'll all be crew work for JO's car

TC
JO doesn't need a crew - he just needs to check the air, snug the belts, fire up the beast and HANG ON
I don't need a crew either - climb in, belt up, crank the little beater, fire up a cigar, put on my fine looking hat and cruise down the strip

I spoke to Ron this morning. The gate doesn't open until 6:00PM on Fridays and closes at midnight. The track is close to a mile long so John won't need a drag chute. Contrary to one of my earlier comments about needing two helmets, it's so far from the end of the track to the staging area that a number of helmets will be needed to maintain throughput. Ron's going to put an ad in the Wheels section of the Atlanta paper for Nov. 7th if that's the date everyone is in agreement for. Sound good?
