Atlanta Dragway
Our web site is, BTW, Atlantadragway.com. Tony is correct, the gates open at 6:00 PM, no access any earlier than that. It is a Year One sponsored Firday night test and tune. This has been going on all summer.
Two weeks ago we had the Viper club. Be interesting to see if any of the Cobras will be the best Viper time. We actually had to slow the best Viper down after his first breathtaking run!
I will be working the mic so any announcements you guys want will be made over the PA. Although expensive, there is food and drink at the track.
Tech inspection includes looking for batteries that are not tied down, any preexisting fuel or oil leaks, seat belts, roll bars for open cockpit cars, etc. Tech inspection takes about 5 minutes as you arrive at the track. The line starts forming at 5:30 but there aren't that many folks this time of year.
BE THERE! BE THERE! BE THERE! (oh well, that's how they did it when I was a kid!)

Rsnell,
Thanks to you & Tony for being deligent and making this happen. Not to beat a dead horse but can you clarify for the roll bar issue. It seems to be a common "hick-up" with us single hoop & sometimes short roll bars found on most Cobra's. Mine, for instance is a good couple inches shorter than my head, much less with a helmet on. (Randy, no need to chime in!) What are the regs so I can have it modified if need be? Thanks again and everything seems A-OK.

Hey guys- just catching up on this, been hiding under a rock for far too long as usual. I'll try to get up one way or the other. Cobra's headed to SA next week to have the clutch look at (probably replaced - drove too long slipping), so we'll see when that get's wrapped up. Otherwise, maybe I can convince my brother to come up in his 968 - may have to run in another lane but great to see everyone.
Any chance this can be a repeating event? Once a quarter or something when the track is open?

Could you tell me what limits you guys impose on Test and Tune Friday's? I live in Fayetteville and don't want to go up to Commerce and have problems. If its a cage below 11.99 I'll probably come up to meet everyone but not race it. Another reason is I'll leave the slicks home if I can't run.

Re: NHRA Track rules vs. speed
Does this help justa6

All racers must wear long pants and shoes.
13.99 and quicker - Helmets must be worn, seat belts.
11.99 and quicker - 5 pt. harness and roll bar
9.99 and quicker - full NHRA chassis approval, full roll cage.
Hope that helps. The fun of driving the track with out a helmet will me holding down to above 13.99. But if you're serious and want to see what the car will do, please bring a helmet......

I'll ask Ron if he can designate a good parking area for those of us who want to bring their cars but won't be running.

Man, this sounds fun. I'm not able to bring the Cobra, but maybe something else ? Would I be the first person to drag race a cup car ?

RON
Thanks for the reply Ron.
So as I understand it I can run below 11.99 with my 5 point harness and my "Single" hoop (braced) Roll bar.
Is that also OK for normal (not Test and Tune) races?
I'm really looking forward to meeting the "group".

How many cars are planning on running on the 7th? It would be in our best interest to have a strong showing the first go around so they will do this again!
Tony Hull - BB Car - I'm there (with a small pit crew no less!)
BTW - I have invited two chevy guys who are bringing their rides to run as well. We are planning on leaving the Roswell/Alpharetta area around 3:30 to beat Friday traffic and grab an early dinner around Commerce. Anyone interested let me know so me can all meet at one place to eat.

Tony, I'll be there with my car, but I will only have a couple of hundred miles on the new motor. I'm afraid I'll be a spectator. Lewis and John from Southern Automotive plan to attend. I spoke to Dave Crace today and he won't be able to make it. I think Chill, Randy, TC and John Owen plan to be there. Should be awesome!

Looks like Chiperb is in. What's the deal on your new small block? Maybe I've been a bit distracted with my own recent engine project. Let's hear some details!
