Thanks Tony, Unless something unexpected happens we will be there. It's worth the drive, and as I have found out, anyplace is a drive from Dublin. Rex

Rex, depending on the time of day that you leave Dublin, you may be better of just taking 441 north thru Athens to I-85.
I't 2 lanes most of the way but you'll avoid Atlanta on a Friday afternoon.
However, if you leave early enough, you will be OK coming up I-75 to I-285 and eventually I-85 north.
Good luck

Razor: WSB=Welcome South Brother! left Cincinnati in 1971 and never looked back. Folks and family up there but I LOVE the weather down here. Come along. We will also do some track evewnts at Robling this spring/summer, just west of Savannah. Also you are close to the beautiful 1500 miles of GA coastline. Just watch those gnats/no seeums: will eat you up. Chip in Decatur, GA

Hey guys, that was fun! Even if I didn't run. After the Cobra guys got warmed up, you guys ruled! Sorry about the confusion over the NHRA rules regarding topless cars. At least now we know what they expect. It was great seeing the turnout. I'd say the next one should be even better. John, you got booted for breaking warp factor 10, That was awesome!

Sorry for my early tirade last night after my first couple of runs. I admit I was a little dissapointed but in the end and after the plugs were cleaned things improved - a little.
Speaking of "little" - GS took the BB 15 to 14 in a close and embarrasing loss for the BB me. Heck, I even had the staging fella line us up to together!
I SAID IT HERE - A SMALL (verry small 274 CI) BlOCK TOOK THE FASTEST TIME at 11.03 @ 121 (?). Thanks for making the trip up Bob and sorry about your early departure. Thanks JO for getting at least 1 of the 3 BB in the 11's! After all that 6/10 tenths makes me feel not AS bad. How you posted better 60 foot times is beyond me as it was all I could do spinning all through 1st - must be driver skill!
In the end the track was slippery through 330 feet and no hope at 60 feet without slicks. Everyone minus Justa6 and maybe JO left entirely pleased due to "tech" confusion/details.
I had 9 runs: 3 12.5's, 3 @ 12.7's, 3 bad ones and a whole lot of fun. Thanks TR for getting this going and to the Dragway. I have a list of things to change before the next event (slicks, line-lock, shifter, etc.) to try to lower those times and get the power down.
Oh BTW, when I finished making my continous rounds everyone but Chip & Joel had left so we had a nice dinner at 1 AM. Thanks guys!

Gone in seconds, well.....
Hey guy's.
That was funnnnnnnn! I was disappointed in my times. the first run against Chill was really bad for both of us 15 and 16 something Chill taking the win. couldn't hook-up off the line and I had a major problem catching 2nd and 3rd gear. I think I bent the shifter fork for 2nd.
Looks like I found a winter project afterall.
The second and third runs were better but al;so not what I expected 14 and 13's respectively: Looks like back to Drag Racing 101 for me. Slicks and better technique ought to bring the times down a bunch like maybe into the mid 11'S ??????
I took some digital photos at the starting line last night. Hector, Tony, White #96, and the Daytona. Also a couple of shots in the pits. I will put together a file and send them out.
I think it was John's wife who took photos at the line. I apologize if I got that wrong but in any case she's a real trooper for standing out there all night. Thanks!!! I hope the photos came out. I would like a copy. Please let me know how I can get one.
Thanks
Bob

So when are you buying? Did you buy last night? Randy called and told me he was hungry.

TC, actually I did buy three meals last night at around 1 AM.
Randy and most of the gang was gone when I came back to the pits.
However, IF you read the quote above based on average I don't think I would have bought one meal. Best times averaged would favor BB. Just add best ET's between the two unless some SB's have lost their timeslips.
JO - 11.904
TH - 12.502
Jason ?
Justa - 11..3 (This is a really fast car with really quick up shifts)
Joel - 12.27?
GS - 13.47
Chill - 13.2
Hector
Bob
Chiperb
Orange Cobra
etc.
Just out of curiosity it would be nice to know.
Just for perspective, last night we had the following:
Paul Smith - Mallett Corvette 50-60K into the car set-up for drag exclusivly with well over 500+ HP ran 12.03 @ 116 with slicks.
And heavily modified ZO6 with slicks best run of 12.6 so JO can be darn proud of a sub 12 run with drag radials. Heck we all can for that matter.

That was fun - thanks Tony and Ron. As to the pictures - sorry - in my haste to set up the camera for my wife and get back to the negotiations as to being able to run, I included the tower in the upper part of the picture, thought it looked nice as a background, but did not notice that the autofocus was picking up the umbrella rather than the cars - so we have a beautiful umbrella and fuzzy cars. Perhaps better than nothing.

That was a BLAST!!! After a bit of a slow start, both the whole tech process, then my first run at 15+ (after forgetting that the car shifts better into second with the clutch pushed IN!!!), the rest of the night was great, perfect weather, nobody broke anything (that I know of), I beat GS, a great ride home with several Cobras 'playing' back down 85.... what could be better...
I looked at the slips when I got home and best reaction time was .786, which I understand equates to .286sec, and best time was 13.277 at 108.46. The interesting stat (considering no grip) was 84+ at the 1/8 mile point.... Next time I might remove a few lbs from the rear tires. (of air)..
A few people took pics...any more available?
...now that I WAXED GS...it's time to remove 20lb of bugs from my car...
